Day of the Dead Decor
Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is a Mexican holiday that brings families and friends together to help support the deceased on their spiritual journey by praying and remembering loved ones who have passed away. It is believed the gates of heaven open on October 31st at midnight to allow the spirits of the deceased to reunite with their families. Large alters called ofrendas are built to honor the dead, and are adorned with gifts and treats, including some traditional items like pan de muerto (Day of the Dead bread), sugar skulls, folk art skeletons, and even alcoholic drinks like mezcal. This beautiful tradition has created some absolutely amazing decor, and since it shares the same day as Halloween, you could use these decor items interchangeably with Halloween decor for a fun, multicultural display!
