Vintage Halloween Buckets
If you asked anyone what the most recognizable image is at Halloween most likely they would say the pumpkin, or more importantly the carved jack-o’-lantern! As Irish folklore informs us the use of a carved jack goes back a long way to Ireland when a man named Jack made a deal with the devil. After passing away Jack wasn’t allowed into heaven or hell because of the devilish deal, but instead sent into the night to roam forever holding a carved out turnip with a burning piece of coal inside to light his way. Jack of the Lantern as he was known then, became Jack o’ Lantern, and so a tradition was born! In Ireland and Scotland, turnips, gourds, potatoes and beets were carved. Today we celebrate the spirit of this traditions with our vintage Halloween buckets and lanterns. Both buckets and lanterns are no longer just representative of pumpkins or gourds either! You will find carved ghosts, frankenstein faces, witches, mummies and black cats made of paper mache, resin or metal! These pieces of decor are the perfect addition to any display, whether it be on your kitchen table or at your front door! You can also hang these lighted lanterns from a tree to greet your guests on Halloween, the options are endless!
